2009 is shaping up to be a
year of hikes, adventures and experiences heretofore unparalleled in any year.
The year started with a predawn takeoff from Glendale airport, flying east over
Glendale, Phoenix, Scottsdale and Fountain Hills. Past Four Peaks, I enjoyed the
first sunrise of 2009 at 11000 feet over Roosevelt Lake on the way to Springerville, AZ. and a day of skiing.

Planned hikes this year include the highest
mountains in Arizona, Colorado, California and Oregon. (Mount Humphreys,
Mount
Elbert, Mount Whitney, and
Mount Hood) as well as a hike down and out of the
Grand Canyon, and a hike across from the south rim to the north in one day,
followed by a hike from the north to the south the next day. Also planning on
Las Vegas, San Diego,
Bryce Canyon,
Olympic National Park,
Catalina Island and
Zion National Park.
